I am inspired to post for my benefit and for the benefit of other people who work in circulation departments of libraries, whether they are academic, public, private or web. Don’t know why…I barely have time to get my actual work done, much less keep up with all of the developments in the field.
I’ve been reading some of the more well known library blogs for quite some time, from the Librarian in Black to the Shifted Librarian to the Ubiquitous Librarian…some I find more useful than others. One thing I don’t find is a blog devoted to the staff member who is charged with running the circulation desk, managing the student help, keeping the book stacks in order and dealing with the day to day stuff that comes with running a library. So…I am going to document my daily life, collect, collate and pass on information, and look for things to keep us all amused.
I hope that when word spreads I will be able to find a group of peers in the field and that we can enrich each other’s work and lives.
