I didn’t know how much I needed this until we got here…actually, I did know…getting out of Champaign just to go to Arthur to see fireworks last weekend soothed my soul…Kansas City is making it jump up and down and shout with glee. It’s not just all the oddnesses…like the sinks in rest areas in Missouri that not only come on automatically, but also change the water from cold to warm, dispense soap from the faucet and when you move your hands in a particular way start blowdrying them automatically. Nor the Denny’s that had a sign on the door telling people that concealed firearms aren’t permitted (apparently if they are visible they are okay)…but the delightful things. Last night TC and I went to Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant, where our food was delivered by train (the tracks are up near the ceiling and the food is in a plastic tray. It comes around from the kitchen on its own and is lowered down to the table on a lifter. Then we saw “Transformers.” Not bad…lots of chases and stuff blowing up real good. They should have panned back a little so it was easier to see the Transformers transform but I totally enjoyed it.
Then today we slept LATE and drove over to and pooch’s for her party. Good food, good alcohol, good company. Got to meet some “family by extension” (kit’s KC sweetie and star’s grandma) and then we came back to KC and ran smack into the HCC gang. This is going to be a blast. Spider gets here tomorrow night, and will be here Friday.
The hotel is gorgeous and the room we are in now is as big as Cheron’s apartment. We are moving tomorrow as Barnstead is rooming with us and I doubt he wants to share this kingsized bed (TC kicks in his sleep sometimes.)
It’s midnight, so I will close now and write more tomorrow.
